Galapagos Coral Expedition Itinerary

GALAPAGOS CORAL EXPEDITION ECG002

Join us on board our 20 &  26 passenger signature yachts, the Coral & Coral II, for an intimate cruise in the Galapagos Islands.

We will feature lectures by experienced naturalists. Island visits will be in small groups of 16 people or `less, each is escorted by a certified Galapagos National Park guide.

Day by Day Itinerary

Day 1 Friday
Guayaquil or Quito
Welcome to Ecuador! You will be met, assisted with baggage, and trasnfered to your first class hotel in Quito(Mercure or similar) or Guayaquil(Grand Hotel or similar).

Day 2 Saturday
Guayaquil or Quito
Colonial City Tour of Quito
(4 HOURS)
Visit the colonial center of Quito and see a variety of colonial churches, plazas and museums. Finally, drive up to el Panecillo Hill to have a spectacular view of Quito and to see the amazing 20 meter high statue of  the winged virgin over looking the city.

Guayaquil City Tour
(3 HOURS)
Experience downtown Guayaquil; walk through Las Penas, a lively 1900's neighborhood, experience the bustling riverfront at Malecon 2000 and the many attractions featured at this walkway.

Day 3 Sunday
Eastern Islands
Guayaquil, Baltra, Wilderness adventure cruise, Santa Cruz
Transfer from hotel to airport for your flight to Baltra airport in Galapagos. Transfer to the Itabaca canal, cross to the Island of Santa Cruz and ride to Puerto Ayora. Lunch at the Highland of Santa Cruz. Visit Charles Darwin Station. Explore around town, shop for souvenirs, or mail postcards. Welcome aboard!. BLD

Day 4 Monday
Wilderness adventure cruise, Hispaniola
Disembark at Suarez Point in the morning and Gardner Bay in the afternoon. Enjoy open areas where you can spot lava lizards, iguanas, and many birds. Time is allowed for swimming and snorkeling. BLD

Day 5 Tuesday
Wilderness adventure cruise, Lobos, San Cristobal
Visit Ochoa Beach at Lobos Island and at Baquerizo Moreno Port. Tour the interpretation center, covering natural and human history of the islands. Shopping in town for souvenirs.Disembark at Pitt Point (San Cristobal Island). Hike to the top of Pitt Point. BLD

Day 6 Wednesday Morning                               
Wilderness adventure Cruise, North Seymour, Baltra
Disembark at North Seymour a major nesting site for birding and wildlife encounters. In the afternoon return to the docks (Baltra Island), Those staying on-board will continue cruising the Western Islands. Departures board a bus, and drive to the airport for a return flight to the mainland, stopping in both Guayaquil & Quito. (B,L,[D]) Extensions are available.

Welcome at Baltra Airport! New arrivals transfer and board. Orientation. Afternoon disembark at Bartolome Island with hiking and snorkeling. Penguins, iguanas, and other wildlife encounters. ([B],L,D)

Wilderness adventure cruise, Isabela
Disembark at Urbina bay in the morning. Hiking, swimming, and snorkeling. Afternoon location is Tagus Cove. A Dinghie ride will allow you to see marine life such as Galapagos Penguins and flightless cormorants. See the largest population of giant tortoises. BLD

Disembark to visit Punta Espinoza for hiking and wildlife encounters. Afternoon visit Point Vicente Roca on Isabela Island. Hike a volcano. Snorkelling is possible depending on water conditions. BLD

Wilderness adventure cruise, Santiago, Rabida
Visit the dark sand beach at Puerto Egas. Hiking with birding, iguanas, and Red Sally light-foot Crabs. Swimming and snorkeling in a lagoon. Afternoon visit to Rabida located off Santiago Island. Hiking and birding. Dinghie ride by the reefs and an excellent opportunity for snorkelling. BLD

Day 10 Sunday
Wilderness adventure cruise, Baltra, Guayaquil or Quito
See Charles Darwin Station in Puerto Ayora, On the second visit to Santa Cruz, those who have already visited the Charles Darwin Station will tour the highlands. Drive across the highlands observe volcanos & Giant Tortoises. Lunch at Ranch (typical restaurant). Depart to Airport. Flight to Guayaquil or Quito. Upon arrival you will be met and transfered to your hotel. BL

Day 11 Monday
Guayaquil or Quito
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to airport for homebound flight($25USD departurte tax from Quito, $10 from Guayaquil) or trip extension. Thank you for joining a Latin Trails Expedition.

Excursions to the Islands
There are 2 daily visits to the islands, in the morning and in the afternoon, accompanied by our naturalist guides. The visits usually include walking, hiking and snorkeling, and in some places beach activity, swimming and shopping.

Dry Landings: Passengers step directly from a dinghy to rocks or a dock, therefore we recommend: walking shoes, sunscreen, hat, water, insect repellent and a light jacket.

Wet Landings: The dinghy edges up to a beach, passengers step into knee-deep water assisted by crew members and guides, therefore we recommend: swimming suit or shorts, walking shoes or slippers, towel (that will be provided by the crew while disembarking), sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, plastic bag, well insulated cameras and a windbreaker.

Marine life in Galapagos is abundant, for that reason, these is a great place for snorkeling. And for those people that do not have their own equipment, you may rent it on board.
