Guayaquil and Surroundings
Guayaquil the largest city, economic capital and main port of Ecuador. Northwest of Guayaquil, is a tropical region, Machalilla National Park, white beaches surrounded by a primary dry forest. Inside the park is La Isla de la Plata (The Island of silver), a wildlife sanctuary that resembles Galapagos Islands. September is a must for whale watchers, humpback whales gather for their mating rituals. La Segua, Ecuador's wetlands is a small "Pantanal" where you can find thousands of shore birds.
